No date set

I know some of you are checking back in for updates regularly, and I just wanted to keep you all in the loop: there is no date set for delivery. There was one (it was supposed to be the 9th), but it got scrapped. Long story, but I had little to do with this decision. J will come in for a checkup on the 9th, which is 37 weeks exactly, and the OB will decide what to do then.

I am trying be zen about things, but I will be slightly on tenterhooks till she gets checked.

It is really too bad I stopped working on the 1st of April, but the problem about that job was that it was all consuming, and I did need time off to prepare for various things.

With all this time on my hands, I really need distractions. I am reworking my way though the seasons of The Office (maybe my all-time favorite show, though I do have a lot of those). Fun ART-related piece of trivia: California Cryobank gives you the celebrity lookalike for a particular donor, and the celebrity with the most look-alikes in the CCB donor pool is apparently is John Krasinski. Sigh. That man would probably make very cute babies.

Wish me luck with the staying distracted!

  1. You caught me! I am checking regularly. :) Thanks for the update... so are you feeling pretty ready for the baby now as far as having a nursery set up? I imagine your mom will help a lot at the beginning. Sounds like you'll be on top of the game, as far as formula goes. Sending good thoughts for the 9th.

    1. Sort of...planning to cosleep (with the baby having its own space) so not preparing a separate room. Only getting the essentials before birth, and people are slowly being told. Rather wild and unreal, all of it.

    2. Ah, yes, I can imagine continued cautiousness, all things considered (waiting to tell people until now, etc.). Maybe you will have a baby shower after the birth? From what I know, it's true you don't need much for a while with a newborn..

  2. Yep, I also keep checking. You had said you wanted the baby to have as long as possible "to bake," so it's probably good to wait until the 9th for decisions. Sending lots and lots of love and positive thoughts to you, the baby, and J. You will be holding your little one soon. By the way, out of nowhere, I feel like it will be a little boy.

    1. Haha...the general consensus of "feeling" all around (on my part and J's part) is that it is a boy.

      Let us see :)

  3. Also admitting to some checking ;) Thank you for the update.
I hope that whatever decision the OB makes, it is one that you feel very good about. The 9th is just in a few days. Hang on.

  4. TV is a great anesthetic. I watched hours of mindless shows while Asa was gestating; The Office was a favorite. Good news that there's a chance that baby has a some extra time in the womb. Everyday inside is precious, even though I do think s/he will dodge the NICU at 37 weeks. It's a very odd situation. On one hand, you know the baby is best staying inside (barring extreme circumstances); on the other hand, after the birth you're in charge, and baby's safe in your arms. Surrogacy is not simple, is it? I had an odd experience after Asa was born. As I have mentioned, he was not at all as robust as my daughter when he was first born. I was so scared. I kept thinking that I had a responsibility to my surrogate to keep him healthy and thriving. After all, she had done this amazing job of carrying him and bringing him into the world, I felt like he was mine to screw up. The tables turned.

Enjoy your shows and thanks for the update. Stories like yours really bring me a lot of happiness.

  5. Ugh! I hope you are able to get a firm date during the appointment on the 9th. In the meantime, distraction is definitely a good thing! I have not seen "The Office", so I'm not sure what its humor is like, but one show we really like (which just had its series finale last week) is "Psych", so check that out if you haven't already seen it and you're looking for a new distraction at some point.

  6. Glad for the update! & glad the OB will take a wait & see stance for tomorrow. Keeping busy is a good thing but rest & relax too because before long it will be a long time before you'll get proper rest :)
